Thank goodness March is here!! Spring is coming, birds are chirping, sun is shining and our house is SO glad to say goodbye to February. I can’t condemn 2014 just yet, still too early, but February was rough. Cold after nasty cold, a full round of the stomach flu and surgery for the husband later and we’re moving on, ready for this spring business.
Unfortunately, this cold nastiness is still lurking. And these tablets have been my savior! I’m usually a shower every other day sort of gal, but you better believe I’ve been looking for an excuse to hop into a warm shower and breathe in the goodness.
Poor little Gussy is all stuffed up too. For him it’s been Baby Vick’s on the feet, cold steam vaporizers and NoseFrida (this thing is the biggest life saver! so gross, but so great!) There seems to be no relief for the little guy though.
What do you do to get through your colds and your kids’ colds?
Tonight we’re having another one of my favorites, compliments of the husband. Tofu Sloppy Joes are easy and so good! (Are you noticing a trend in my recipes? Easy is the name of the game around here!) There’s no formal recipe to follow with this one, we just wing it, so feel free to add in anything that your family might find tasty!
My not so little baby turned 1 year old a few weeks ago. I know, I can’t believe it either! Because this little boy is the center of our universe around here, I knew his gift had to be perfect. So perfect, that I had been planning it since he was…oh…4 months old. What can I say? I’m a planner.
I loved the idea of giving him a space to hide out, play with trucks and his animals and make his own. I found some tee pees and tents online, but most were over the top colorful (I wanted something more toned down in the color department) or they were over the top expensive. I felt like making a tee pee was my only option and I thought it made it more special. I found an easy tutorial here, and followed it almost to a tea. I listed a few lessons learned below.
Considering some of the projects I’ve taken on, this really was a fairly simple, yet adventurous, project. I had a lot of fun doing it too! What have you done to make your babies space feel special?
I will be the first to admit that I have been a bit distant to this blog lately. But don’t fret, things are buzzing on the backend and have been busier than ever!
When I relaunched the blog I had a very specific image that I wanted to take shape…a feeling that I wanted when I looked at the site. I love how things are coming together but it’s not there yet. Over the next few months I will continue to bring you the posts you expect…the frugal fest will continue! You’ll notice some exciting changes here and there along the way. I’ll tackle more topics, more DIY challenges, more recipes, and more greenness. I’ll also start to introduce you to my family and my world here in Overland Park. And if that isn’t enough, the blog will get prettier with each post. And who doesn’t love pretty?!
Continue checking the blog to watch it grow, and the week of April 21st…EARTH WEEK!...join me for the GRAND relaunch of How Now Green Cow complete with AWESOME give aways!
It is snowing like crazy in Kansas City. We’re talking enough snow to make me put up my TOMS and actually put on some boots, and trust me, that takes A LOT. What all this snow also means is I have time to peruse Pinterest and find this and this great DIY boot sock tutorial. How perfect is that?! I can never find socks tall enough to peek out from my boots, and if I do they’re waaaaaay to bulky for me. This solves both of those problems and takes me back to the days of leg warmers during ballet.
Looks like my legs are going to be cute and warm, and I’ll be getting fit with the pliés I’ll be busting out. Enjoy!
